Privacy policy.
We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we never handle your card details ourselves.
Who we are
The African American Women’s History Month Project, Inc. (“AAWHMP,” “we,” “us”) is a Florida nonprofit corporation and a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN EIN 45-3115431. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 609058, Orlando, FL 32860. This policy covers aawhmp.org and its subdomains.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit. If you write to us directly, we receive whatever you choose to include.
Information collected automatically. Our web server keeps standard access logs — IP address, browser user-agent, requested page, and timestamp — which we use to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or social media pixels on this site.
Information we do not collect. We do not collect payment card numbers, bank account details, or financial information of any kind. Donations and sponsorships are processed entirely by third parties (see below), and that data never reaches our servers.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Any cookies present are strictly necessary for the site to function. You can block cookies in your browser without losing access to the content here.
Payments and third parties
Donations, sponsorships, and ticket purchases are handled by external providers — including Zeffy, PayPal, and Zelle — each under its own privacy policy. When you follow a link to one of those services, their terms and privacy practices govern that transaction, not ours. We receive only the information those providers pass back to us, typically the donor’s name, email address, and the amount given, so that we can acknowledge the gift and meet our reporting obligations.
How we use your information
We use what you give us to respond to your message, acknowledge and record donations and sponsorships, send information you have asked for, and comply with legal and charitable-reporting requirements. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with service providers acting on our behalf (such as our payment processors and email provider), and where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of the organization, our honorees, or the public.
Sponsors receive public recognition — organization name, and at certain levels a logo — as described in the sponsorship materials. That recognition is the point of sponsorship and is not treated as private information. Individual donors are not listed publicly without permission.
Honorees and exhibit content
Biographical material, photographs, and other content about honorees are published as part of our historical and educational mission. If you are an honoree, or represent an honoree’s family or estate, and wish to correct or remove material about that person, contact us at aawhmpinc@gmail.com and we will work with you.
Retention
We keep contact-form messages and donation records only as long as we need them for the purpose they were collected and for the period required by tax and charitable-reporting rules, then delete them.
Your choices
You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to aawhmpinc@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. Deleting records tied to a recorded donation may be limited by our reporting obligations.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on this page.
