The short version: this site exists to honor and document. Read it, share it, cite it. Don’t misuse it.
Agreement
These terms govern your use of aawhmp.org and its subdomains (the “site”), operated by African American Women’s History Month Project, Inc. (“AAWHMP,” “we,” “us”), a Florida nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) public charity. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What this site is
The site publishes historical, biographical, and educational material about the women we honor, along with information about our exhibits, events, and programs. Content is provided for general information and educational purposes.
Using the site
You agree not to:
- use the site in any way that violates applicable law or infringes the rights of others;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its servers, or any connected system;
- interfere with the site’s operation, including by scraping at a volume that degrades service for others;
- submit false, misleading, abusive, or unlawful content through our forms;
- use honoree names, images, or biographies to imply endorsement of a product, service, candidate, or cause.
Content and permissions
Site design, text, and compilation are © 1998–2026 African American Women’s History Month Project, Inc., except where otherwise noted. Photographs and biographical material about honorees are published with permission or as part of the historical record, and many are owned by the honorees, their families, or third-party photographers.
You may quote and share this material for educational, journalistic, personal, and non-commercial purposes with attribution to AAWHMP. Commercial reuse, and any republication of honoree photographs, requires written permission — write to aawhmpinc@gmail.com.
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, contact us at the address above with enough detail to identify the work and we will respond promptly.
Donations and sponsorships
Contributions are processed by third-party providers, including Zeffy, PayPal, and Zelle, each governed by its own terms. Follow the provider’s process carefully; we are not responsible for errors made on their platforms, though we will help you resolve them where we can.
African American Women’s History Month Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 45-3115431), and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We do not provide tax advice — consult your own advisor. Sponsorship benefits are described in the sponsorship materials for each exhibit; where a sponsorship includes goods or services, the deductible portion may be reduced accordingly.
Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a contribution was made in error, contact us and we will review it in good faith.

Nominations and submissions
If you nominate an honoree or send us material, you confirm that you have the right to share it and you grant us permission to use it in connection with our charitable and educational work. We are not obliged to publish, return, or keep confidential anything you send us unsolicited, and nomination does not guarantee selection.
External links
The site links to other organizations, sponsors, venues, and payment providers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, terms, or privacy practices.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work to keep it accurate and current, but we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Historical detail is researched carefully but may be revised as new information emerges.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AAWHMP and its officers, directors, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the site.
Changes
We may revise these terms. Changes take effect when posted, and we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida.
